ClientWeWork

A design sprint for a proposed new service model

Design SprintService Design

01 · Challenge

In 2018, WeWork was growing fast and hunting for revenue beyond memberships. One idea was a service for people who only needed a desk for the day: a client meeting, a few hours of focus, a workday in a new city. No monthly commitment. Those people clearly existed. The harder question was whether WeWork could serve them without breaking what already worked: the membership, the operations behind it, and the promise that made the brand worth joining.

02 · Approach

The team ran a design sprint with no answer baked in. Customer research showed how single-day users actually worked and what they needed. Personas sorted out who wanted this and what they'd expect walking through the door. Journey maps then put the idea under pressure: could the service meet those expectations without chipping away at the membership experience? The sprint was there to answer one question: should WeWork build this at all?
